Classification of welded steel tubes

Welded pipe, also called welded steel pipe, is largely product of plate or strip after crimping and forming welded steel pipe. Welded steel pipe production process is straightforward, high production efficiency, type of specifications, less equipment, but the overall strength is less than seamless steel pipe. According to different welding methods, welded steel tubes may be divided into arc welding tubes, high frequency or low frequency resistance welding tubes, gas welding tubes, furnace welding tubes, bundy tubes, etc.

Electric welded steel tube: used for oil drilling and machinery manufacturing.

Furnace welding pipe: is used as gas pipe, straight welded pipe for top pressure oil and gas transmission; Spiral welded pipe is employed for oil and gas transportation, pipe pile, bridge pier and then on.

According to the weld shape classification may be divided into straight seam welding pipe and spiral welding pipe.

Straight seam welded pipe: simple production process, high production efficiency, low cost, rapid development.

Spiral welded pipe: the strength is mostly beyond the straight seam welded pipe, can use a narrower blank to supply larger welded pipe diameter, but can also use the identical width of the blank to provide different welded pipe diameter. But compared with the identical length of straight seam pipe, the weld length increases by 30~%, and therefore the production speed is lower. Therefore, small diameter welded pipe mostly use straight seam welding, large diameter welded pipe mostly use spiral welding.
